Week of August 17th

ENGLISH II:

Monday:
INTERNET AGREEMENT FORMS DUE TODAY!
1. EOI opener #3
2. Writing: Read article in class on Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace. Respond to the question:
"How do you feel about social networking? Are there pro's and con's?"
3. Autobiographies: brainstorming, planning, rough drafting. Finals due Thursday.

Tuesday:
1. Meet in library for library orientation.
2. Work on autobiographies

Wednesday:
1. EOI opener #5
2. Questions on autobiographies
3. Short story notes
4. Read "The Monkey's Paw" (handout in class). Be able to answer the questions Who? What? Where? When? Why?

Thursday:
1. EOI Opener #6
2. Finish notes on "Monkey's Paw"
3. Read "Harrison Bergeron" in class set of books. Be able to answer the quetions Who? What? Where? When? Why? for the story.
4. Autobiographies collected.

Friday:
1. Grammar notes: parts of speech
2. Practice in text in class
3. Homework due next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: packet of worksheets.

Monday:
1. Finish any classroom introductions/Bingo as needed
2. EOI Opener #3
3. Writing: Read article in class on Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace. Respond to the question:

3. Read "Navaho Creation" handout in class; take notes
4. Extra credit: research and bring in information on other creation myths from at least one other culture

Wednesday:
1. EOI Opener #5
2. Read "The World on Turtle's Back" in class text.
3. Work on autobiographies

Thursday:
1. EOI Opener #6
2. Collect autobiographies
3. Finish "The World on Turtle's Back" if needed

Friday:
1. Grammar notes: parts of speech
2. Practice in text in class
3. Homework due next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: packet of worksheets.

PRE-AP ENGLISH III

Monday:
1. Turn in writings on social networking
2. EOI Opener #3
3. Autobiography assignment: brainstorm and organize. Final drafts due Wednesday
4. Background on creation myths and Native Americans
5. Vocabulary Unit 1: packet due Thursday; quiz Friday
6. Homework: research at least one creation myth from a culture different than your own and bring in your information tomorrow.

Tuesday:

2. Creation myth discussion/reports of homework
3. Read "Navaho Creation Myth"
4. Work time if possible on autobiographies or vocab

Wednesday:
