Week of August 24th

ENGLISH II

Monday:
WRITING. After a full week of high school, what is your opinion of it? Brainstorm ideas about your first impressions of Enid High School. Brainstorm ideas of how you could begin an introduction for your essay. Write an introduction. Write an outline for the rest of the essay.
Grammar: any questions on nouns/pronouns. Worksheet due tomorrow.


Tuesday:
Go over worksheet 1: nouns and pronouns
Read "Harrison Bergeron" in class from text, p. 32; answer "Who, what, where, when, why." Be ready for quiz over reading. Finish story if necessary

Wednesday:
Go over worksheet 2: verbs, adverbs, adjectives
Finish "Harrison Bergeron"
Extra credit: draw a picture of Harrison based on the information in the text

Thursday:
Go over worksheet 3: prepositions, conjunctions, interjections.
Read "The Possibility of Evil." Answer "Who, what, where, when, why." Be ready for reading quiz.

Friday:
Grammar quiz: Identify parts of speech
New grammar: The sentence and its parts; homework for next week (packet) assigned

Monday:
WRITING. After a full week of the new schedule, what is your opinion of it? Brainstorm ideas about the schedule and its pro's and con's. Brainstorm ideas of how you could begin an introduction for your essay. Write an introduction. Write an outline for the rest of the essay.

Tuesday:
Go over grammar sheet 1: Nouns and pronouns
Background to Salem Witch Trials/The Crucible Act 1

Wednesday:
Go over grammar sheet 2: Verbs, adverbs, adjectives
Crucible Video
Extra credit: research something about the Puritans and their culture

Thursday:
Go over grammar sheet 3: Prepositions, conjunctions, interjections
Crucible video

Friday:
Grammar quiz: Parts of speech
New grammar: parts of a sentence; homework (packet) assigned for next week

PRE-AP ENGLISH III
Monday:
WRITING: WRITING. After a full week of the new schedule, what is your opinion of it? Brainstorm ideas about the schedule and its pro's and con's. Brainstorm ideas of how you could begin an introduction for your essay. Write an introduction. Write an outline for the rest of the essay. Next week's assignment will be to finish the essay. You may work ahead, but the reading this week will be more extensive than usual.
Grammar: any questions on nouns/pronouns. Worksheet due tomorrow.
Read Crucible Act 1 for homework. Be ready for quiz.
Word study 1 assigned; due Thursday.

Tuesday:
