Week of April 12

English II


Monday:
Descriptive writing. Make silly putty. Use as many similes, metaphors, personification, or other literary elements to describe it as you can.

Tuesday:
Narrative writing: use the photos in class or the prompts at the above web address and write a story about what you see or a story that answers the prompt.

Go over sample essays: see what a 1, 2, 3, and 4 look like

Word of the Day test, words 1-50

Thursday:
Persuasive writing - see the prompts at the above web address

Friday:
Writing review: Choose one of the four writing assignments from the week and FINISH it. All four assignments should be stapled together and turned in for a grade.

Finish Our Town

Thursday:
Narrative writing: choose any picture and create the story that goes with it. Tell me what happened. Use transition words.

Assignment for descriptive: write at least 10 similes/metaphors or examples of personification that describe the silly putty made in class. If you were not here, describe an object using those same ten techniques. Put the list into a paragraph.

Assignment for narrative: choose any photograph and write the story behind it. Tell me what happend before and after and what the objects in the picture are doing or thinking OR use one of the "narrative" prompts from the website at the top of this page.

Assignment for expository: Choose one of the prompts from the website at the top of this page and write.

Friday:

Expository writing: focus on "webbing" or creating a plan for your writing over one of the topics from the website above

Pre-AP English III


Monday: LIBRARY; Five paragraph essays due

Tuesday: LIBRARY

Wednesday: Our Town Act 2 and 3

Word of the Day test, words 1-50

Thursday: Our Town test if time; finish Act 3


Friday:

Our Town test finished

Final draft of research paper due: All three sections
1. Intro with thesis
2. Section on author with citations
3. Section on book summary with at least one quote from the book
4. Section on time period with citations
5. Transitions from one sections to the next - show how they are all connected
6. One Works Cited page; all sources on this page must be cited in paper; all stats in paper must have reference listed on this page
7. Make sure to have a header with page number in each top right corner and an opening header on first page only, top left hand corner
8. No first or second person (I, you, etc.)
9. No abbreviations
10. No contractions
11. No sentence mistakes (RO/frag)
12. Proofread carefully
