Library: Research Greek gods/goddesses to learn how to use MLA format (handouts in class) and to see how the gods of this time period have affected our vocabulary (ie. Nike = the goddess of speed and victory so naming a shoe brand after her is a good marketing idea)

Writing: Dependent clauses. After reading the children's book If You Give a Moose a Muffin, create a ten sentence story that uses dependent clauses to begin each sentence. Make sure to use a comma after each introductory dependent clause.

WORD OF THE DAY BEGINS THIS WEEK. See activity sheet handed out in class for options to complete with Word of the Day. First ten words are due next Friday, Sept. 24th

Extra credit: find five word of the days in the newspaper, online, or on television. Write down what you heard and what it meant.

English II

Monday
Writing: Alliteration alphabet - write the alphabet on notebook paper. For each CONSONANT, write at least three words that start with that consonant sound. That is alliteration. Try to use it in your writing!
Go over Sentence/Fragment worksheet from Friday.
Begin reading "To Build a Fire."

Tuesday:
Go over sentence/fragments for a quiz on responders or paper option
Finish reading "To Build a Fire" independently in class. Finish for homework if not done in class.

Wednesday:
Read "The Interlopers" in class.
Handout: Facebook page. Create a Facebook page for one of the characters from the short stories we have been reading. This is part of your test grade on Friday.

Have a safe and relaxing long weekend!
Extra credit this week: find examples of literary terms in cartoons or other print.
Bring them in, showing how they are examples of onomatopoeia, alliteration, hyperbole, imagery, personification, metaphors, etc.
English II
Tuesday:
Go over any comments/frequently made mistakes on Autobiographies.
Make sure you have turned in your autobiography!
Write an 11 sentence paragraph using handout/format given in class. If you could have any three wishes, what would they be and why?
Finish "Monkey's Paw" and notes
Begin reading "Possibility of Evil" p. 186
Wednesday:
Read "Possibility of Evil" p. 186 and take notes on who, what where, when, why, symbols, and conflict
Thursday:
